Embassy of China in Myanmar discussed with Myanmar and Chinese Media on the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative

On August 23, the Embassy of China in Myanmar held a China-Myanmar media tea party themed the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. Myanmar media and Chinese journalists in Myanmar, including MRTV, Skynet TV, Eleven Media, Standard Times, Gold Phoenix, and Myanmar News Week attended the event.

In his speech, Zheng Zhihong, Minister Counselor of the Chinese embassy in Myanmar, said that after ten years of development, the Belt and Road Initiative has become an open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial platform for international win-win cooperation, and a global public good widely welcomed by the international community. Thanks to the concerted efforts of all parties, a connectivity framework involving six corridors, six types of routes, and multiple countries and ports has essentially taken shape, a large number of mutually beneficial projects have taken off, continuous improvement in liberalization and ease of investment and trade along B&R countries and regions has been made, and cooperation in industry and supply chains has become tighter. This year is also the tenth year of China's foreign policy of building a global community of a shared future and building friendship and partnership with its neighbors based on the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness. The high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative is a vivid practice and a significant path for a global community of a shared future. Neighboring countries are significant participants and beneficiaries of the Belt and Road Initiative. China will continue to honor its foreign policy of building friendship and partnership with its neighbors based on the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness and advance its cooperation with neighboring countries under the Belt and Road Initiative to get fruitful results. The Belt and Road Initiative saw steady high-quality development and great potential between China and Myanmar. In the next decade, the Belt and Road Initiative will open up new opportunities for China and the world. China and Myanmar are working together on the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor project. Both sides shall collaborate further on cracking down on cross-border criminal activities such as telecom fraud and create a clear environment for the Belt and Road Initiative. It is hoped that the media of both countries will play an active role in promoting and guiding in this regard.

China-Myanmar media exchanged opinions on the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, collaboration on cracking down on online gambling and telecom fraud between China and Myanmar, and communication and cooperation between China and Myanmar media, and agreed the Belt and Road Initiative has played a significant role in developing the economy and society of the B&R countries and improving people’s livelihood, with remarkable achievements visible to all. China and Myanmar are friendly neighbors. People from all walks of life in Myanmar support the China-Myanmar cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and the Economic Corridor and look forward to the steady advancement of cooperation projects to better benefit the two peoples. China and Myanmar media are willing toexert their influence, publish and promote the fight against telecom fraud andhelp create a sound environment for bilateral cooperation and regional stability and prosperity.

The tea party was held in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Participants made extensive and in-depth exchanges and watched a video clip recording the Belt and Road Initiative achievements in this decade.
