The 44th Chinese naval escort taskforce arrived in Myanmar for a friendly visit.

On November 27, the 44th Chinese naval escort taskforce arrived in Yangon, Myanmar, for a four-day friendly visit. H.E. Mr. Chen Hai, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, along with the Embassy staff, and Rear-Admiral Mr. Zaw Win, Commander of Myanmar Navy Dockyard, along with representatives of Myanmar Navy officers and soldiers, as well as representatives of Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese, totaling about 500 people, welcomed them at the dock.

At 3:00 pm local time, guided by the Myanmar naval frigate UMS King Tabin Shwe Htee, the Chinese naval ships, the guided-missile destroyer Zibo and the guided-missile frigate Jingzhou slowly docked at the Thilawa Port in Yangon, with the hanging banner "Long Live China-Myanmar Friendship". The officers and soldiers of the taskforce wearing immaculate uniforms, stood in formation on the deck. The welcoming crowd waved the banner saying "Warmly welcome the 44th Chinese naval escort taskforce to visit Myanmar" and waved the flags of China and Myanmar to welcome the arrival of the Chinese navy.

After docking, Ambassador Chen Hai, accompanied by the captain and political commissar of the guided-missile destroyer Zibo, reviewed its guard of honor, and had discussion and exchange with the commanders of the taskforce. Myanmar navy officers, staff of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, as well as representatives of Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese who came to welcome the Chinese navy also boarded the destroyer Zibo for a visit.

It is reported that this is the sixth visit of the Chinese naval fleet to Myanmar. During the visit, the commander of the taskforce will pay a visit to senior Myanmar military and local officials and visit the teachers and students at local elementary schools. The officers and soldiers of the taskforce will hold  professional exchanges and sports competitions with the Myanmar navy, and visit each other’s military facilities. The destroyer Zibo and frigate Jingzhou will hold opening events and deck receptions.
