Minister Counselor Zheng Zhihong Attended the Opening Ceremony of the LMC Project of "Seminar on Awareness and Exchanging Practices for the Implementation of the RCEP Agreement"

On February 26, Dr. Zheng Zhihong, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of China in Myanmar, attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the "Seminar on Awareness and Exchanging Practices for the Implementation of the RCEP Agreement" supported by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Special Fund. Dr. Kan Zaw, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER), Dr. Wah Wah Maung, Deputy Minister for MIFER, U Win Zeyar Tun, Vice-Chair of the LMC National Coordination Unit (Myanmar), envoys of LMC countries in Myanmar, and guests from various LMC countries attended the event.


Dr. Zheng Zhihong stated that the RCEP is the free trade zone with the largest participating population, greatest economic scale, and biggest development potential. Therefore, it is significant for member countries to strengthen exchanges.We believe the support from Lancang-Mekong Special Fund for Myanmar to host the seminar will be of promising outcomes to the region. As the largest economy in RCEP, China has always adhered to the concept of open development and is promoting the high-quality implementation of RCEP. China is willing to further enhance regional trade and investment facilitation with Lancang-Mekong countries, improve ecosystems conducive to business, continuously enhance regional economic integration, and jointly build a closer Lancang-Mekong community with a shared future.

The Myanmar side expressed gratitude for the China-funded LMC Special Fund supporting the seminar, which will help the public and private sectors of LMC countries to enhance their capacity through experience sharing and contribute to a better understanding and effective implementation of the RCEP. Encouragement was given for countries to apply the experiences gained from this seminar to promote the better implementation and application of the RCEP agreement.

This projectis support by LMC Special Fund2023 and will hold a 3-day seminar in Naypyidaw, with experts from China, Thailand, and Vietnam giving special lectures, and more than 70 representatives from LMC countries attending.
