On Aug. 27, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam, who visited China to attend the Special China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

Wang Yi said that, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN strategic partnership. For these ten years, under the joint efforts of all parties, China and ASEAN enhanced political mutual trust, deepened pragmatic cooperation, increased personnel exchanges and made considerable progress in cooperation in various fields, bringing tangible benefits to their respective countries and peoples, and promoted the regional peace and development. The Special China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting this time will summarize the past, plan for the future, promote the friendship among neighbouring countries, and focus on development and cooperation. As an important member of ASEAN, Brunei has made important contributions to promoting the development of China-ASEAN relations. The bilateral relationship between China and Brunei has enjoyed a simultaneous development with China-ASEAN relations, and reached its historical peak. During the China visit of Sultan of Brunei in April this year, the two heads of state agreed to establish China-Brunei strategic cooperative relationship, charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations. China hopes to work together with Brunei to promote continuous new progress of bilateral relations.

Mohamed Bolkiah expressed that Brunei thanks China for attaching great importance to Brunei-China relations for the long time, and for its sincere devotion to ASEAN-China relations. China is a true friend of ASEAN. As holding the rotating presidency of ASEAN this year, Brunei will continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in international and regional affairs, and promote Brunei-China and ASEAN-China relations up to a new high.
