Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin of Myanmar

On Aug. 28, 2013, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met at the Foreign Ministry with Foreign Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin of Myanmar, who came to China for the Special China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

Wang Yi expressed that, China-Myanmar relations now enjoy a sound growth momentum. The two countries should promote all-dimensional cooperation, firmly develop good-neighbourly friendship. China is glad to see Myanmar establishing and developing friendly relations with other countries in the world. It is believed that Myanmar will find a development path in accordance with its own national conditions and fundamental interests. China and Myanmar should focus the efforts on major economic and trade cooperation projects, actively push forward infrastructure connectivity, explore to build the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Economic Corridor. China is willing to continue to play a constructive role in promoting the peace process in north Myanmar. Myanmar will hold the rotating presidency of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) next year. Hope both sides will work together to push forward China-ASEAN strategic partnership for greater development.

U Wunna Maung Lwin expressed that Myanmar cherishes China's long-time support and help for Myanmar and will unswervingly develop the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China. The economic and trade relations between Myanmar and China benefit both countries. Myanmar is willing to strengthen cooperation with China on major projects, connectivity and other fields, to jointly safeguard the stability along the border. Myanmar is willing to make positive efforts for promoting the development of ASEAN-China relations.
