On 15 May, H.E. Mr Hong Liang, Chinese Ambassador in Myanmar, paid a farewell call upon H.E. U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for State Counsellor's Office.

Ambassador Hong said that China-Myanmar relations maintain a sound momentum of development. Not long ago, Myanmar's State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and reached a series of important consensus with Chinese leaders on the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor. China is willing to work with Myanmar to implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, helping Myanmar develop its economy and improve the well-being of its people. The Chinese side will continue to play a constructive role in Myanmar's peace process and Rakhine issue according to the needs of the Myanmar side.

Union Minister U Kyaw Tint Swe spoke highly of Ambassador Hong Liang’s extensive work in developing Myanmar-China relations and promoting practical cooperation between the two countries. He said that China is a true friend of Myanmar. Whenever the Myanmar side encounters difficulties, the Chinese side always provides timely help to Myanmar. The Myanmar side hopes that the Chinese side will continue to support and help the Myanmar side with the peace process and the Rakhine issue. It is willing to actively build the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor with the Chinese side and promote the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries to make new progress.
